Varied carpet beetle
This textile insect is one of the most common beetles to affect homes and businesses in London, they can sometimes be mistaken for the common clothes moths due to the same feedings habits. The Varied Carpet Beetle larvae (also known as ‘Woolly Bears’) can feed off of natural fabrics in carpets, clothing, furniture and often dead animal hair they are attracted to the keratin like the Common Clothes Moth. Their life cycle from larvae to adult is around 1-3 years long which gives them a significant amount of time to cause damage. Once in full adult stage this (what will?) will last around two weeks and mating will then reoccur.
